It all started when…

In 2018 I found myself facing life as a single dad. I have faced challenges before, traveling all over the world with the Marine Corps but nothing compared to the self-imposed pressure I placed on trying to be a great dad to two of the most incredible humans I’ve ever met in my life - my daughters.

Suffice to say, my life experience has demonstrated to me the importance of being self-sufficient. Especially important to me was passing that knowledge and experience on to my daughters. My life of entrepreneurship has afforded me to have unrivaled joy in my life and I wanted to show my girls that this life could be had by them as well, independent of anybody else.

So by way of example, we took our home and decided to make a business out of it and put it on the short term housing market. In doing so, we learned first hand all of the highs and lows inherent in this space. This led to family, friends and even complete strangers asking us all sorts of questions about what it would look like if they put their home on the short term market.

One of the girls mentioned that it would be neat if ‘we could get a quarter for every time we answered a question.’ The lightbulb went off and the Altus Team was born.

The girls were in charge of coming up with all of the small yet meaningful touches that sets our properties a step above the rest. The welcome notes, the decorations, the games for kids and the special decorations and spaces to help our guests get away from it all- they really threw themselves into the project and I remain unimaginably proud of them and grateful for the privilege of being their dad.
